What engineers say

My team was among the first engineering teams at Indeed to adopt Indeed Workflow (iWF) [the predecessor of Dex]. At the time, we were building a refund system, one of the most business-critical systems in the Finance and Billing organization, where reliability, consistency, and fault tolerance were essential. One of the key reasons we chose iWF was the strong support from the iWF team led by Long. They were always willing to answer our questions and help us navigate the adoption process. More importantly, the iWF workflow engine itself demonstrated the power of durable execution, providing the reliability and resilience needed to handle complex, long-running distributed transactions. It gave us confidence that our workflows could recover from failures and continue execution without losing track of their progress. Several years later, we have successfully built and operated many more business-critical systems on top of iWF, including subscription cancellation workflows and invoice write-off workflows. Our experience has proven that iWF is not just a workflow orchestration framework, but a solid foundation for building reliable, scalable, and resilient financial systems.

I've watched Long dedicate himself to durable execution and distributed systems for the last 10 years, and I have always turned to him for advice on distributed system architecture and design. He is truly an expert and a pioneer in durable execution, and incredibly passionate about it.

During our time at DynamoDB, Long showed a brilliant talent for data storage, especially the performance and reliability of distributed systems. I'm excited to see him combine durable execution and data storage into one platform. He's probably the only person on earth who could do this!

I've had the pleasure of relying on Long for every durable execution problem, from Uber Cadence to iWF. He is incredibly smart and focused. I'm excited to see Super Durable launch Dex, and I can't wait to use it!
